Minimum Spending and Maximum Charity

Minimum Spending and Maximum Charity
This holiday season, it is important to think about those around the world who may be less fortunate than us.  We as frequent flyers have been very lucky to travel the world in total luxury for prices that others wouldn’t believe.  There is a special charity that you might want to consider putting your money into, Kiva.  Kiva’s Mission:

Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.  Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.

The best part about Kiva is that the people you lend the money to (via a lending partner bank) pay the money back!  So once you get the money back you can re-lend it to other individuals.  Another cool perk is that you can fund your Kiva account with a credit card, helping you reach minimum spend!  Then when your loan is paid back, you can either put it back in your bank account OR you can re-lend it to another person in the Kiva community!
You should consider joining the MilePoint team, a community of frequent flyers on Kiva.  They are making loans at incredible rates.  As of the time of this writing, we are rapidly approaching $1 million dollars in Kiva loans!  That’s a lot of money towards ending poverty!  I made my first two loans pretty recently and plan to do more soon.
Whether you are looking to help someone get out of poverty, meet your minimum spending, earn some extra miles on your frequent flyer account, or all of the above, Kiva is an excellent opportunity to do so!
